Jarrolds Print Museum - 16.5.2012

Fascinating trip to a museum purely based around the founding of letter pressing, binding, lithography etc.

It held many early printing machines, and some replicas. There were demonstrations from individuals that had come from the industry and had worked in it for many years.

I was intrigued by the advances in technology throughout the ages and just how fast things moved.

It was so worth the visit and i got to take home some lovely prints the people at the “working” museum had produced.

I am excited to know that i can request to go back and use the facilities for myself.

New Brief

5 Discreet responses to - “I wish I had…”

In reference to my first year at university, being a student and on a graphics course.

Think about looking back, advice for new students, discoveries and any regrets etc.

Consider medium and format - any can be explored.

Be truthful and honest, and it could be used in a publication.

Catton Park Magazine layout. New idea - looking at 2 dialogues, mine and through snippets of conversations I have heard. Its going to be on textured paper to accentuate the patterns etc within the nature. I am also going to look at cut outs and smaller pages.

Out & About today, exploring other ideas for my “Event project”.
I visited a park, quite close to where i live that i didn’t even know existed until today.  It was such a vast space, filled with trees and country wildlife. It was lovely to find such a hidden and well kept treasure.
I have taken some photos and think i will go into my critique/next series of workshops at uni with some more ideas to talk over.

New idea for “Event” after realising, although quirky an fun, i didn’t have much to work with for my chickens project and so it began to loose focus.

I can continue with my layout ideas and research and developing my format.

I have been looking a lot at magazines such as RayGun and have enjoyed the creativity throughout. I like the grunge feel.

As a new “Event” idea i wanted something that could gather people together, get lots of images and visual ideas and also where i could get lots of text such as quotes and interviews.

I thought of a party of some sort and then came across the idea of a film night. Inspired by my recent and regular trips to the cinema to see films such as the hunger games (picture). I can spend the night exploring different genres, different emotions and different reactions. I could get lots of text and images from the movies and also generally have a good time!

I’ll keep u updated on activities!
